HOW MUCH IS YOUR TIME WORTH?

I thought this might be useful to any entrepeneur that happens to read.

It's an old cliche that we all know and understand, but to what extent do you really apply it in your business?

For example, do you make a phone call when an email would do just fine?
Sure, there's something to be said for spending a little extra time building rapport with your clients, but phone calls often stretch out into ten, twenty, thirty minutes when taking five minutes to craft an email would have gotten the job done.

Remember, your clients and strategic partners are busy too -- they may appreciate the efficiency of an email instead of a phone call.

On the other hand, are you an "email person", who insists on going back and forth via email, when a phone call is clearly necessary to iron out the issue? If something is going to require a lot of back-and-forth, a phone call may be more efficient.

If you're trying to come to an agreement about something and you exchange more than two rounds of email, it's time to just pick up the phone.

What about picking up checks from clients? Entrepreneurs are always in a hurry to get paid, it seems, and again, there's something to be said for building rapport with clients. But often, picking up a check may mean the only person you actually speak to is the receptionist at their office. Is it really worth an hour of your time to say hello to their receptionist and get paid 1-2 days sooner? Just ask them to mail it to you.

How much is your time worth?

Have you figured it out? If not, you should. To figure the minimum, figure out how much money you're making per year and divide it by 2,000. To figure the maximum, consider how much you make for your most productive time -- closing a deal, a speaking engagement, billable client time, etc. Somewhere in between there is the real value of your time.

There's a saying which I recall reading somewhere (I thought it was Harvey Mackay, but I haven't been able to track down the quote):
Don't pay someone $25 an hour to do $7 an hour work.Plug your own numbers in there. Maybe it needs to be, "Don't pay someone $50 an hour to do $20 an hour work." You're the first number. Whatever your time is worth, think about each and every activity that you're spending time on on a regular basis. Could you outsource it to a bookkeeper, a virtual assistant, a web designer, a copywriter, a part-time employee, your spouse or even one of your kids?

It's very difficult for most entrepreneurs to relinquish that control and delegate, but it's one of the best ways that you can ultimately increase your income while decreasing the number of hours you work.

Remember - most resources are potentially unlimited. There's no limit to how much money you can make (someone can pass up Bill Gates, right?). There's no limit (other than self-imposed) as to how many customers you can have, or employees, or locations, or products or anything else.
But there are only 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 52 weeks a year, and you have to spend some of that time sleeping, eating, playing, relaxing and growing with yourself, your friends and your family.

Time is an entrepreneur's most precious resource, because it is the only one that is truly scarce. Be stingy with it.

YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES

How many times have u ever wondered;
Can i amount to something in life?
Can i ever make a headway in life?
Or how many times have u heard people tell you that;
You can make it,
You have what it takes and so on
Normally your response is usually "you think so or thanks anyway, but i dont think so.
The truth of the matter is that you can always make a headway, you can always amount to something in life as long as as u take the fear factor away.
Fear is one of the weapons that we allow to make us believe that we are inadequate.
And one of our greatest fear is not that we cannot make it, but that we are afraid of our capabilities and abilities.
We will rather not look inwards afraid of what we may find there.
Once we are able to overcome this fear, you will discover that you are capable beyond tour own measures, and that the word impossibility exist as long as you think you cant.
One of the greatest things that God has done for us is to give us a mind and a sound mind he has given us.
The mind is a fertile ground for any seed, depending on the kind of seed you are planting on it.
Everything thing that you are or have become is what you are on the inside.
If in your mind, you see yourself as inadequate; then you are definatelty inadequate.
Likewise, if your mind you see yourself as a competent person, an achiever; then you are definately an achiever.
The mind is like a battle ground where every battle that must be won must first be won in your mind.
You actually have what it takes to be want want you want to be as long as you believe it , you can actually achieve it.
All you have to do is to feed your mind with positive stuffs and not junks and you will be suprised at how positive you will be on the outside.
Life is too short for you not to make the best of it.
Achieve your dreams and do what you have always dreamt of doing.
Remember, whatever you want to be, let it be grounded in your mind first and you will be amazed at the results that will folllow.

If you believe it, you can achieve it.

DECISIONS

Hi ive been so busy with work that i couldnt even check my mails . the work is getting more and more tedious day by day. something happened over the weekend that made me really understand how POWERFUL DECISION MAKING CAN BE. I have come to understand that the decisions made today go a long way in affecting our tomorrow. whatever decision u make today defines the course your future will take.

I made such decision on sunday, though at the point of making the decision i felt like i was going to miss out on a lot of things and that made me to really feel terrible. Deep down i felt good with myself and i unleashed a POWER i didnt know lies within. It was a refreshing experience experience. I actually had to choose between right and wrong and i chose to do the right thing though it was difficult.

Decision making is one very important thing as the choices we make today goes a long way in defining our tomorrow. Many of us are in the mess we are today because of the decision we made some 5 10 15 years ago and we often wish we can actually turn back the hands of time.

A manwho finds himself behind the bars is there because of a decision to be part of a notorious gang or to just be rebellious.

A woman who finds herself at the top is just of a simple decision she made to be the" best at whatever she does"

There is this african proverb that says "the best time to plant a tree is 20 years ago and the second best time is now" So whatever decisions u have made know that u can actually pick up from wher ever u are.
SO YOU CAN ACTUALLY DECIDE TODAY TO BE THE BEST AT WHATEVER YOU , MAXIMIZE YOUR GOD GIVEN POTENTIALS AND LIVE OR RIGHT OR YOU CAN ACTUALLY DECIDE TO DO OTHER WISE. THE BALL IS IN YOUR COURT AND YOU ALONE CAN DEFINE YOUR DESTINY BY THE CHOICES YOU MAKE.

MOI

I really have God to thank for giving me the opportunity to have somewhere i can post my thots and day to day experiences. waoh i woke up this morning and i felt like not going to work. i had to do some chores and clean up the house by the time i was thru the rain waspouring hard. i really felt like staying home curling up in my and taking hot chocolate drink but i have a deadline to beat or meet or else i dnt knw what my boss can do. by the way i just got this job in an aviation company it looks like it will be interesting working here. the people seem nice but u really have to work hard. the company is into cargo, aircraft permit processing and air craft fuelling. i really hope to build my career here. theres another thing that i ve learnt about lagos since i started this job, its a place u find people rushing to no where in particular. i guess with time i will adjust to the mad rush in lagos considering the fact that i come from a town where u dont have to rush to do anything, all things come with ease.

I really am this kind of person that loves to read motivational stuffs, inspirational, biographies, right now i am reading bill clinton's biography. boy do i adore the man, am in love with him. so far one thing i have discovered about him is that he knew what he wanted to be right from the start and he actually set out to achieve it right from the beginning. i think that knowing what u want and going for it is the graetest achievement of all. whether that thing is accomplished or not there is this satisfaction u get from trying to achieve it. but there is nothing done passionately that is not a success.

i guess i will be talking more on the books i've read and practical issues that can help one live a right attitude
